SECRETARIAT
INTRODUCTION
The Administration of Parliament is led by the Chief Administrator of Parliament, Diplomatic and Administrative Officer Grade JUSA B who is responsible for the administration and financial affairs. He is assisted by two (2) Secretaries of the House; Secretary of the Senate and Secretary of the House of Representatives. The Secretary of the Senate is responsible for all affairs related to the Senate while the Secretary of the House of Representatives is responsible for all affairs related to the House of Representatives.
The Secretariat of Parliament of Malaysia consists of several divisions as follows:

FUNCTION
1. TO GIVE LEGAL ADVICE
- To give legal opinions/advice in written or oral form in line with the provision of Federal Constitutions and other laws on matters related to the administration of Parliament especially those related interpretation of main legislation, subsidiary legislation or judicial decision Act, Statute, Method, Regulation, Subsidiary Legislature or judicial decisions related to Parliament's Administration.
- To review all provisions in agreements/contracts that involve the administration of Parliament.
- To give advice to the Parliament's Admnistration regarding any disciplinary cases.
- To implement instructions given by the Attorney General on any laws relating to the Parliament's Administration.
- To give legal opinions/advise in written or oral form in line with the provision of Federal Constitutions and other laws on legal issues raised in the Senate and the House of Representatives.
- To assist the Secretary of both Houses in interpreting the provisions of the Standing Orders.
2. ENACTMENT
- To prepare and review drafts on International Agreements/Memorandum of Understanding between Parliament of Malaysia and foreign countries, drafts Agreements/Memorandum of Understanding between Parliament of Malaysia and Ministries/other agencies, Letter of Intent, terms for Committee and Standing Orders of the Senate/House of Representatives.
3. PROSECUTION AND LEGAL ADVISORY
- To inform the Administration of the Parliament and Secretary of Both Houses relating to any court cases involving the Malaysian Parliament.
- To review summonses, sign affidavit and legal documentation to be submitted to the courts.
- To inform, prepare documents and gather information on criminal and civil cases to be sent to the Prosecution Division and Legal Advisory Division, Attorney General's Chambers.
4. LEGAL REVIEW
- To conduct research and review to any main legislation, subsidiary legislation or judicial decision related to Parliament's Administration.
5. OTHERS
- To attend meetings that require legal advice.
- To carry out legal related tasks given by the Chief Administrator of Parliament and the Attorney General's Chambers from time to time.
