PARLIAMENT OF MALAYSIA: 23 AUGUST 2021 (Monday) --- The 42nd AIPA General Assembly with the theme Forging Parliamentary Cooperation in Digital Inclusion towards ASEAN Community 2025 from 23 to 25 August 2021.
Brunei Darussalam hosted the virtual AIPA general assembly. Attended by nine member countries and 11 observer countries, including Australia, Belarus, Canada, the People's Republic of China, India, the Republic of Korea, the European Parliament, Norway, Morocco, Russia and Timor Leste.
The Malaysian delegation was led by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, H.E. Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun and 15 Members of Parliament and senior parliamentary officials. Malaysian Parliament has submitted four resolutions on cyber security, elections, the economy and SDG.
The resolutions were tabled and debated by representatives from all AIPA member countries in order to achieve consensus. Member countries are urged to enact laws based on the resolutions.
AIPA, established in 1977, is a legislative body that serves as a platform for ASEAN parliamentarians to discuss issues on politics, security, economy, social and regional cooperation.
