His Majesty The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah received the 'Royal Salute'
PARLIAMENT OF MALAYSIA, 11 March - His Majesty The Yang di-Pertuan Agong XVI, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah ibni Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta'in Billah was pleased to officiate the Opening Ceremony of the Second Session of the Fourteenth Parliament at Parliament of Malaysia.
The arrival of His Majesty with Her Majesty The Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah binti Al-Marhum Al-Mutawakkil Alallah Sultan Iskandar Al-Haj was greeted by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, H.E. Dato' Mohamad Ariff bin Md Yusof and the President of the Senate, H.E. Senator Tan Sri Dato' Sri S.A. Vigneswaran.
Also present to greet the arrival of Their Majesties were the Prime Minister, The Honourable Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, and Deputy Prime Minister, The Honourable Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and husband, Hon. Dato' Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim.
His Majesty The Yang di-Pertuan Agong then received the 'Royal Salute' by the Guards of Honour (KKU) from the First Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment. The team is based in Kem Perdana Sg Besi, with the strength of six officers and 103 members of other ranks, led by Major Ahmad Safuan bin Jaafar.

After that, the national anthem Negaraku was played by a band from the KKU Band Group which comprised of the Royal Malay Regiment Central Band with the strength of an officer and 44 members of other ranks. The band was led by Major Muhammad Nor Azizan bin Yahya.
The national anthem was accompanied by 21-Gun Salute of ceremonial cannon carried out by 41st Field Battery, Royal Artillery Regiment based at Kem Sg Buloh. The team which comprised of three officers and 57 members of other ranks was led by Major Mohd Asri bin Che Wil.
His Majesty was then inspected the Guards of Honour before the national anthem Negaraku was played once again.

After the ceremony, His Majesty The Yang di-Pertuan Agong was escorted to the Royal Chamber at the Main Block, Parliament, before proceeding to the House of Representatives to deliver the Royal
Address.
The House of Representatives' First Meeting for the Second Session of the Fourteenth Parliament will be held for 20 days from 11 March until 11 April 2019. While, the Senate meeting will be held from 22 April until 9 May 2019.
