Tuesday, 30 April 2013 – Excellent Service Awards Ceremony 2012 at the Parliament of Malaysia was held at the Banquet Hall, Parliament of Malaysia. The ceremony was officiated by Dato' Mohamad Zabidi Zainal, Director General of the Malaysian Civil Service. The event was attended by Dato' Lamien Sawiyo, Chief Administrator of the Parliament of Malaysia, Datuk Roosme Hamzah, Secretary of the House of Representatives and Datuk Zamani Sulaiman, Secretary of the Senate.
23 Parliament staff was selected to receive the Excellent Service Award for 2012. The grant of Excellent Service Award (APC) to the civil servant has been implemented through the Development Administration Circular (DAC) No. 2 Year 1993 and amended through DAC No. 2 Year 2002 and based on Annual Performance Valuation Report and evaluation by the Human Resource Development Panel of Parliament of Malaysia.
In his keynote address, Dato' Mohamad Zabidi Zainal insists on the use of technology and ICT in the daily operations. Such facilities should be used by all to ensure the smooth running of each assignment. In addition, he also touched on Infrastructure Development Project in Parliament Complex which is expected to be completed by 2016. The development project which will provide modern and conducive office space is expected to boost up the spirit of Parliament staff in carrying out their duties. The Director General of the Malaysian Civil Service has also reminded civil servants about the responsibility to vote in the upcoming General Election on 5 May.

Before the end of the ceremony, recipients of the Excellent Service Award 2012 and Parliament officials have had the opportunity to take pictures together with Dato' Mohamad Zabidi Zainal.
Dato' Mohamad Zabidi Zainal was also honoured to plant a tree called Podocarpus macrophyllus (teak hill) at the parking lot to mark this momentous event. The ceremony ended at about 1.00 pm.
