Kuala Lumpur, 30 November - HE Dato' Mohamad Ariff bin Md Yusof, Speaker of the House of Representative officiated the "Roundtable on Electoral Reform: The Way Forward for Free and Fair Elections" programme organised by BERSIH in collaboration with Parliament of Malaysia which was held at Conference Hall, Temporary Block, Parliament of Malaysia.

The two-days programme was also attended by Hon. Dato’ Haji Mohd Rashid bin Hasnon, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Mohamed Hanipa bin Maidin, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Awang Alik bin Jeman, Chief Administrator of Parliament, Datuk Roosme binti Hamzah, Secretary of the House of Representatives, Mr. Riduan Rahmat, Secretary of the Senate and members of the Senate and House of Representatives.

This programme has been divided into eight session, there are:

1. Reform of Electoral System: Dealing with identity politics, fair representation and healthy political competition
2. Ensuring fair representation: Re-delineation and boundaries drawing
3. Voter registration and the integrity of electoral rolls
4. Parallel Workshops
5. Control of Political Financing to ensure clean politics
6. Responsibility and power of caretaker government after dissolution of Parliament
7. Enforcement of election laws against offences: Institutions and coordination
8. Ensuring independence of Election Management Body
