The Secretary of the Dewan Rakyat (SUDR) is a federal public servant appointed by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong under Article 65 of the Federal Constitution. SUDR is responsible for discharging orders of the Speaker in relation to all matters pertaining to the business of the Dewan Rakyat (House of Representatives).

The duties of the SUDR are outlined in the Standing Orders of the Dewan Rakyat, such as preparing and providing documents required by the House and the Speaker which includes notices for the commencement of meetings, Order Papers, Votes and Proceedings, and papers as well as producing official reports (hansard) and coordinating matters related to bills, motions and questions submitted by the Members of the House.

SUDR also serves as the Secretary to all the Select Committees and Special Select Committees of the Dewan Rakyat.
