The Hon. Senator Datuk Seri Haji Abdul Halim Bin. Abd. Samad took his oath as Deputy President of the Senate during the swearing in before the President of the Senate, Tan Sri S. A. Vigneswaran.
PARLIAMENT of MALAYSIA, 3 November – Member of the Senate, The Hon. Senator Datuk Seri Haji Abdul Halim Bin Abd. Samad, took his oath as a senator for the second term and has been reappointed as Deputy President of the Senate today.

Hon. Senator Datuk Seri Haji Abdul Halim, 77 previously held a post as a school teacher and senior secretary to Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, and later Setiawangsa UMNO Division Deputy Head from 2004 to 2013.
During the special session, the senators observed a minute of silence to remember and offer a prayer for former Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Sultan of Kedah, Almarhum Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah who passed away on 11 September.
