PARLIAMENT OF MALAYSIA, 19 September – The House of Representatives will hold a special session, which is the Ministers’ Question Time (MQT) beginning in this coming October, said the Speaker of The House of Representatives, H.E. Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Pandikar Amin Mulia.

H.E. Tan Sri said the 30-minute session would be conducted every Tuesday and Thursday before the Question and Answer Session.
To be implemented at the sitting, MQT would start from 10 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. to allow questions on serious and most current issues to be answered by the concerned ministers.
Pandikar Amin said each Member of Parliament would have one minute to ask a question and the concerned minister would have three minutes to answer.

This would be followed by another 30 seconds for any supplementary question, which the minister or deputy minister must answer within two minutes and 30 seconds. The same procedure would be applied for the next supplementary questions.
Pandikar Amin said the questions for MQT can be submitted to his office latest by 10 a.m. on the day before the MQT session day.
If the session falls on Tuesday, the questions must be submitted on Monday by 10 a.m. and the concerned ministries would discuss their answers for those questions.

The new session is part of the first phase of the parliamentary transformation plan besides the special chambers which started in the last sitting.
The MQT was unanimously agreed by the Standing Orders Committee of the House of Representatives on 7 April.
