Monday, 7 October 2013 - 4 individuals were sworn in as Senators at about 10.05am at the House of Senate, Parliament of Malaysia before the President of the Senate, YB Senator Tan Sri Abu Zahar Ujang.
YB Senator Datuk Seri Haji Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam sworn in as Senator
They were YB Senator Datuk Seri Haji Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam, YB Senator Datuk Haji Megat Zulkarnain Tan Sri Datuk Wira Haji Omardin, YB Senator Dato 'Khairuddin ES Abd Samad and YB Senator Datuk Haji Yahya Mat Ghani.
YB Senator Dato’ Khairuddin E.S. Abdul Samad sworn in as Senator
All of them were appointed for the first time for a period of three years with effect from today. The appointment of YB Senator Datuk Seri Haji Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam was in motion by the Malacca Chief Minister, YAB Datuk Idris Haron during the meeting of Malacca State Legislative Assembly last Wednesday. All individuals who have been appointed have different backgrounds and also actively involved in various social activities.
YB Senator Datuk Haji Yahya Mat Ghani sworn in as Senator
In his speech, YB Senator Tan Sri Abu Zahar Ujang reminded all Senators to constantly strive to embrace, fathom and defend the Federal Constitution, and assume the duties and responsibilities entrusted to perfection. He also reminded all Senators to always adhere to their oath.
