PARLIAMENT OF MALAYSIA, 19 February – Hon. Senator Dato’ Ong Chong Swen @ Ong Chong Siew (appointment by Yang di-Pertuan Agong) took oath as a Senator in the presence of H.E Senator Tan Sri Dato’ Sri SA. Vigneswaran, the President of the Senate and H.E Senator Datuk Seri Haji Abdul Halim bin Abd. Samad, Deputy President of the Senate.

Hon. Senator Dato’ Ong Chong Swen @ Ong Chong Siew, 68 is appointed as a Senator for a three-year term starting 19 February 2018 to 19 February 2021.

Hon. Senator Dato’ Ong Chong Swen plays an active role in politics and social activities and among the positions that she has taken office are as follows:

• Deputy Chairman for Wanita MCA Malaysia (2013-present)
• Wanita State Chairman of Wanita MCA Selangor (2013-present)
• Vice Chairman of Senior Citizen & Social Development Bureau MCA (2010-2013)
