Background

Open data refers to the Government’s data which can be used independently, shared or reused by the public, public or private sector agencies for any purpose. It functions as a driving force in the initiatives of the people-centric Government initiative. The implementation of open data can improve the quality and transparency of Goverment’s services through data sharing which is accurate, fast and relevant. In addition, it also can increase productivity and economy through new industrial/innovation with the involvement of the public and business community.

The Public Sector Open Data Portal (DTSA) which is data.gov.my was developed in 2014 and has received Open Data rating at the international level ranked 41st out of 86 countries. The DTSA Portal facilitates the Government’s open data to be accessed centrallyfrom an official source.
