The Arrival of His Majesty The Yang di-Pertuan Agong XVI and Her Majesty Raja Permaisuri Agong to Parliament Square
PARLIAMENT OF MALAYSIA, 31 January - Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah ibn Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta'in Billah arrived at Parliament Square for the Welcoming Ceremony of His Majesty The Yang di-Pertuan Agong XVI.
The arrival of His Majesty together with Her Majesty Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah binti Al-Marhum Al-Mutawakkil Alallah Sultan Iskandar Al-Haj were greeted by the sound of trumpets by 14 members of the Royal Armoured Corps, before being escorted to the Royal Pavillion by The Honourable Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali and The Honourable Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
His Majesty was then presented with “Royal Salute” by the Guards of Honour, and National Anthem “Negaraku” performed by the Central Band of the Royal Malay Regiment (RAMD). The Royal Standard was unfurled and followed by a 21-Gun Salute.

His Majesty subsequently inspected the Guards of Honour comprising four officers and 103 members from the First Battalion of RAMD.
The Welcoming Ceremony was continued with prayer recitation by the Mufti of Federal Territory, Datuk Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri and followed by the “Royal Salute” and the National Anthem “Negaraku” for the second time.
His Majesty was then departed the Parliament Square to Istana Negara at Jalan Duta to attend the 252nd (Special) Meeting of the Conference of Rulers in conjunction with the oath-taking and signing the instrument of office as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
